Experience the magic of eco‐printing on paper, a process of making direct contact botanical prints from the natural pigment found in plants. During this introductory daylong workshop; participants will explore the alchemical process of combining water, plant materials, heat, and metals and end up with some beautiful prints on watercolor paper. We will work with Sunflowers, Dahlias, Cosmo and other seasonal flowers.
In this workshop we will explore the different methods for eco-printing on paper. We will be using a heat press as well as the tin can method bundling, and even boiling books! We will spend the day unveiling prints seeing what beauty has emerged from nature. We will also discuss safety procedures and the sustainable practice of foraging and gathering plant material and talk about what it means to make “Art that Breathes” but most of the day will be very practical hands on art making.
Each participant will have the opportunity to create several beautiful and unique prints. The prints created may be used to create artworks/collage/greeting cards/ wall hangings/bookmarks /artist books.
